In addition, the mural draws attention to the void of role models for trans and gender variant youth, due to the obscurity of important transgender activists and artists in history, as well as the devastating effects of AIDS, and transphobic violence. We Ain’t Got Shit makes material the pastiche queer and trans people use to construct queer histories in the face of cultural erasure.
